A company that lets property registers as an organisation landlord. You give a contact for the organisation and its Companies House number (or charity number). Where there’s no Companies House number, you give details of the directors, trustees or other members of the governing body.

Who registers as an organisation?

Any organisation renting out property, including:

  • companies
  • charities
  • trusts
  • limited liability partnerships (LLPs)
  • Scottish partnerships

What you’ll provide

  • a contact for the organisation
  • your Companies House number, if you have one
  • your Charity Commission number, if you have one
  • details of directors, trustees or other governing-body members, where no Companies House number is given

LLPs and Scottish partnerships also give details of all partners.

Who in the company can do it?

Anyone in the organisation can register it as a landlord. Once registered, they can add other team members, who can then register and update properties.

Ordinary partnerships are different

Members of an English business partnership register as individuals and follow the joint landlord process.

Then register each property

Property registration works the same for companies as for individuals: the property details, then the certificates, tenancy and licences within 28 days. See the full list.
